Description
Every 16 July, Fuengirola honours the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen and sailors, with one of the most moving celebrations on the Costa del Sol.
The procession begins at Plaza del Carmen in Los Boliches before making its way through the streets to the beach where local shower the procession with flower petals. There, the beautifully decorated statue is carried into the sea and escorted out to sea by a flotilla of boats while thousands of people line the promenade and shoreline to watch this unforgettable tradition.
Whether you’re interested in local culture, photography or simply experiencing an authentic Andalusian festival, this is one of the highlights of the summer in Fuengirola.
